Our first Marina in a couple of weeks. Sephina has done a great job making water and power for us, but as there are no Anchorages near Rome we had to enter the canal in Fiumicino and tie alongside Marina Romano in the River. An interesting place with the strange fishing nets used by the locals to drop in the river. We saw a lot of fish jumping as we entered but didn’t manage to snag one on the 10 minute motor upriver. Some mixed Italian/Spanish/English with the Marinero and we were berthed in a nice, albeit far away from everything marina. They gave us a map that seemed deliberately not to scale as the grocery store that looked like it was a 5 minute walk was closer to 45 minutes. We ate pizza (the best yet in Italy) and relaxed. Next day the sun was shining so we cleaned Sephina and did 7 loads of Laundry and organised the Marina Courtesy car for a few days so we could visit Rome. We met up with Gary and Tracey who had just landed, ate dinner and wandered around this amazing city ! I’ll let the pictures do the talking as there are no words to describe Rome!
5 Nights in Rome, hardly enough to scratch the surface, but an amazing experience. Nice to share it with Gary and Tracey as well and our last night they joined us on Sephina for dinner and drinks and a great scrabble game (that Jen and I won, if you don’t count Tracey’s 30 point bonus for using all her letters on her first word!)
Next day Leoni joined us for the next two weeks as we set sail South toward the Pontine Islands…
